As we approach the end of another year at JWC, it’s time to reflect on the good, the bad, and the ugly…
Ten years down and we’re yet to have “an easy one” — but I guess we’ve come to terms with that just being business.
If it was easy, everybody would do it… right?
I think our biggest challenge this year has been staffing. Coach churn has been higher than we would have liked, but just like when a member leaves JWC, we always ask ourselves the question: “Could we have done anything differently to keep that individual in our community?”
So while we’re sad to have lost some great coaches this year, it’s also a great time to congratulate them. From Coach James, who worked hard over a number of years to grow an online business that now sustains his lifestyle, to Coach Erin, who is currently travelling the world and living the dream.
Alongside that, we’ve welcomed some awesome new additions to the team, with Coach Lucy and Coach Louis now firmly part of the JWC furniture.
From staffing challenges to the ever–skyrocketing costs of running a business, we’ve certainly not been able to take our foot off the gas…
But guess what? Only around 30% of brick-and-mortar businesses survive to ten years. So blood, sweat and tears aside, we’re doing bloody well. Thank you to every one of our members and supporters, and to the wider community, for making us feel welcome both in our infancy and throughout the years.
So, what other exciting developments have we seen this year?
In April, we completed a full refurb with the addition of over £30,000 worth of new strength equipment
We’ve developed and refined our HYROX simulation events
And we’ve begun working on a new arm of the business, which we’ll be announcing very soon!
2026 is set to be another challenging (we expect it now!) but exciting and rewarding year.
Business is just like fitness. There’s no magic pill or quick fix — just clear goals, consistency, and a good amount of hard work and determination.
Here’s to your fitness, our business, and a happy, healthy 2026!
Cheers! 🍻
